FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where do you operate?

We currently operate in the western United States, and are especially interested in post-wildfire planting projects. If you manage more than 10,000 acres of land and are interested in our services let us know here.

Does Droneseed have any experience?

Since 2016, DroneSeed has worked with 3 of the 5 largest timber companies in the United States and served more than a thousand acres between survey and forest protection activities.

Is DroneSeed FAA Approved?

Yes. DroneSeed is the 1st and currently only company in the US approved to use drone swarms to deliver agricultural payloads such as herbicides, fertilizer and water. We are also the only company in the US approved to fly unmanned aircraft over 55 lbs.

is DroneSeed available in my State/Province?

DroneSeed can plant in all 50 states and spray to protect trees in Washington, Idaho, and soon Oregon. In Canada we are approved with a SFOC.

Who are your target customers?

At present, we're working with government agencies, non-profits, and private timber companies in the western United States to plant post-wildfire in rangelands and forests.

Are you hiring?

We're always looking for experienced UAV pilots to lead our flight operations. If that's you, head over to our pilots page. If you're looking for a great job, but don't think you can handle all the fresh air and beautiful scenery that our pilots enjoy, check out our jobs page.

Do you build your own drones?

We use off-the-shelf drones with the biggest payloads and the longest flight times. We then modify them significantly. Our secret sauce is in writing the software to fly swarms and manage payloads.

How long can your drones fly for and how much can they carry?

Individual sorties run about 15-20 minutes and our heavy lift fleet is approved for 115 lbs. We run five aircraft concurrently with rapid servicing to execute on large areas efficiently.

Do you work with government entities?

Yes, we are currently working with state governments. Although we are currently not a prime contractor, we are interested in working with prime contractors holding government contracts.

Have you guys ever considered using drones to ________________?

Warehouses, offshore rigs, construction sites, keeping an eye on mischievous children... we've heard a lot of great ideas. We're pretty focused on serving our forestry customers and other vertical crops such as vineyards, fruit and nut orchards, and post wildfire work with spraying services, but if you've got an awesome idea for us, we're all ears. Send us a note here.

I want to buy a drone. how much does one cost?

Unfortunately, we aren't in the business of selling drones. We are a service provider, and all of our drones are required to put in long, hard days in the forest. If you really, really, really want one of our drones, bring $100,000 USD in cash (small bills only) to our office in Seattle, and we might accidentally "lose" one.
