FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where do you operate?

We currently operate in the NW and SE United States, and are especially interested in expanding into Canada and Brazil. If you manage more than 10,000 acres of land and are interested in our services let us know here.

Have you guys ever considered using drones to ________________?

Warehouses, offshore rigs, construction sites, keeping an eye on mischievous children... we've heard a lot of great ideas. We're pretty focused on serving our forestry customers and other vertical crops such as vineyards, fruit and nut orchards, and post wildfire work with spraying services, but if you've got an awesome idea for us, we're all ears. Send us a note here.

Are you hiring?

We're always looking for experienced UAV pilots to lead our flight operations. If that's you, head over to our pilots page. If you're looking for a great job, but don't think you can handle all the fresh air and beautiful scenery that our pilots enjoy, check out our jobs page.

Is DroneSeed FAA Approved?

Yes. DroneSeed is the 1st and currently only company in the US approved to use drone swarms to deliver agricultural payloads such as herbicides, fertilizer and water.

Do you build your own drones?

We use off-the-shelf drones with the biggest payloads and the longest flight times. We then modify them significantly. Our secret sauce is in writing the software to fly swarms and manage payloads.

How long can your drones fly for and how much can they carry?

15-20 minutes and 4 gallons. Most likely your next question is “how do we do real work?” That’s where swarms of 15 drones and our software to manage them comes in.

Do you work with government entities?

Yes, we are currently working with state governments. Although we are currently not a prime contractor, we are interested in working with prime contractors holding government contracts.

I want to buy a drone. how much does one cost?

Unfortunately, we aren't in the business of selling drones. We are a service provider, and all of our drones are required to put in long, hard days in the forest. If you really, really, really want one of our drones, bring $100,000 USD in cash (small bills only) to our office in Seattle, and we might accidentally "lose" one.
